[ Sinclair yelps, wiggling away. That actually hurt]

[And his shirt rides up enough to show a glimpse of the very large bruise on his stomach]

[ He notices how a mere poke hurt Sinclair and he pauses, withdrawing his hand for a second. He felt bandages around Sinclair too and sighs. ]

Do you want some painkillers?

It's fine. It's only a bruise.

[ That Oria poked. He settles back down on Oria's bed with a soft sigh]

You don't need to worry.

It looked pretty big...

[ Oria looks concerned, but a little pouty. This means they can't cuddle!! ]

[ Oria just needs to adapt. Gentle cuddles. Sinclair leans back in when he's sure Oria wont try to grab his sweater again. He might regret this, but Oria looks so cute pouty...]

It looks worse than it is. I don't need to strip to prove that, do I?

[He will actually take off his top if it means Oria will feel better. But what if it makes it worse?]

No... you don't have to.

[ Oria sighs. ]

I only poked you a little and you said it hurt, so of course I'm worried.

It really is just a bunch of bruises...

[He'll lift up his shirt a little so Oria can see. Yep. Just a big purple-yellow bruise, maybe vaguely in the shape of a boot print. He drops his shirt again and reaches up to cup Oria's cheek with a tiny frown]

Not like I was shot.

[This time. He casts his gaze down at Oria's torso, as if he could tell where the bandages were from just looking]

[ Sinclair would be right. There are bandages tightly tied around Oria's stomach area, but the wound should have closer already even if its easy to open it again. ]

... Before you leave, I'm gonna give you an ointment, so you better use it on your bruises.

[ Though that boot-shaped print makes him think... ]

I thought you just did record keeping and cleanups. Why did you get hurt? Was there an ambush?

[Sinclair nods, settling himself back by Oria's side. Closer. His wounds aren't scary at all, unlike--]

Mm. I think they thought I had something more important than I did. We were delivering some documents to another company and then...

[They had been jumped. ]

... I guess we're both always in danger.

[ There's a wry look on his face as he puts his free arm over Sinclair's side again. He wants to pull him closer, but he's wary. What if there's a bruise on his back too? There is, but Oria doesn't know that. ]

[Sinclair doesn't care. He presses closer, tucking his face against Oria's neck. He brushes his hand carefully down Oria's side and when he feels the bandages, settles his hand above, just out of the way against the middle of Oria's back]

...it seems like it. I chose this for myself though.

[It's not like Oria, who had it chosen for him]

[ Oria would obviously want Sinclair to be safe. This is why he's mostly against the revenge pact, even if it seems that Sinclair can handle himself. Even if all these bruises... what if it had been a blade instead of a bruise? It fills Oria with worry. ]

Why did you join?

[He drums his fingers against Oria's back as he tries to put in words. Why had he joined?]

I was in the hospital for awhile after...[He trails off for a bit and frowns. Some of it had been because of his injuries. The other part of it] They approached me then. They said that if I joined them "we promise you, we will help you break free."

... Emil, that's a very common cult technique.

[ Get people while they're down, promise them something that they want so much, and getting them to join.

Now he's even more worried. ]

[Sinclair laughs a little. He can't help it. He thought the same thing]

I told them to go away and leave me alone the first time.

But you still joined.

[ Oria huffs and nuzzles the top of Sinclair's head. His breath against his neck tickles every time he talks, and there's a fuzzy feeling about that. ]

I think they took me more seriously after the trial finished.

[The 'trial'. A joke. There's no need to dwell on that when Oria is here. He doesn't want to linger on that at all. So he nuzzles into Oria's neck a little more]

They showed me how the trial became a farce. How to predict the outcomes, things like that. The technology they were working on to surpass people's natural limits...the ideas they had. [Similar to his father's, yet different a] I understood a little better, after.

... Mm. If that's what you want, then... I'll support you. No more getting rammed with feet though.

[ He briefly squeezes Sinclair in his hold and the hands that are still together. ]

Gonna make them wish they've never been born.

I'll get better with watching myself. I don't see it as something for 'forever'. Just so I can get stronger. [And maybe he's gotten too used to tanking. He'll have to think about that. He presses a kiss to Oria's neck, just at his pulse point] And you need to avoid getting shot.

[He can't believe he's the one getting scolded when Oria's the more injured one between the two of them. He lets his thoughts linger on the last part. That sure is ambiguous]

The ones who hurt you. I don't doubt that you'll get stronger. Maybe I'll eventually hire you as my bodyguard.

[ He huffs, breathing out slowly when he feels the kiss on his neck. ]

And look, I'm doing my best to avoid the worst outcomes and now you want me to dodge bullets in real life? Those are really some expectations you're putting on me.

[ He laughs a little. ]

Don't do anything that would get you more hurt. [He doesn't want that, not for his sake] You think being a bodyguard is in my future?

[He doesn't mind the thought, if it keeps him close to Oria. He presses another little kiss there over the same spot]

If it's you, 'm sure you can learn...though, avoiding people who want to shoot you would be nice.

[Or just bullet proof clothing??? Sinclair's trench coat isn't just for show]

[ He might start looking into bulletproof clothing in the future, because being injured like this is such a hassle. Can't do anything if they target his head though. ]

... just who do you think I am? Some superhero?

[ Sinclair, please. Dodging bullets is too hard. Maybe in a game, but real life? Nah, bro.

But he briefly tenses a little when he feels the kiss again. ]

It can be your future if you're not constantly distracted by me.

[ hehe. ]

[Sinclair laughs. He knows thats impossible in reality, but it is funny to imagine Oria getting mad enough to break real life physics.

Maybe he can get Oria a vest from work. That shouldn't be too bad, right? When Oria tenses, he pulls back a little to check his expression - was that too much?]

What do you mean? Wouldn't that just be your fault then?

Fiiine, I'm so sorry that you are charmed by my good looks and personality even when I'm doing nothing at all and getting you distracted from work, Emil.

[ Please. Though Oria seems fine regarding the kiss and looks down at Sinclair, grinning. ]

[ Hmmm... He'll tuck his head back against Oria's neck and kiss that spot again]

That's not true. You'd definitely be doing something on purpose.
